24 hours of e mail this morning: 46 messages, 38 were spam. &*##$%!

If you haven't heard of them, look at SpamNet. Its a free program that blocks incoming spam and sends it to seperate folder. One of the better things about it is when you block an email as spam, a message is sent back to them to update their database. Updates which are sent out are based on the entire internet communities experience.

    I hope this of help.

One alternative, as friend recently did, is to change your email address.

Over the weekend, which means from friday 18.00 till monday 9.30ish I get about a 120 mails on my hotmail, 90% of it Spam.

I could change my addy, but it's been around since I've been on the net, so I'm holding on to it because of sentimental value.

I have a suggestion that works amazingly well for me. Try Spamex. Its not free but its only $10 per year, which I think is a small price to pay for no spam, and I mean no spam.

I was hanging onto an old email address too because of sentimental reasons and then I realised I was never going to get rid of the spam there so I just deleted a bunch of old addresses and started new. Then signed up for Spamex. They let you create a bunch of anonymous, random email addresses that you can give out to different commercial companies when you have to sign up for things, and they all come into your regular email box.

The key is to make sure you give a different email address out to each person. The best thing about it is that if you ever do get a piece of spam, you can tell which address it came to, and therefore, who gave your email address out to the spammers. Youcan turn off that one single address instead of your whole inbox, and cut off the person who spammed you.

I have been doing this for about 8 months now and I haven't received a single piece of spam.

They would probably explain it better on their web site, spamex.com. (Not a plug, just info).
